What We Are Looking For We’re expanding our in-house estimating capabilities and seeking an Estimator to join our team, reporting to the Senior Director of Estimating. In this role, you will develop accurate, competitive cost estimates, bid packages, and proposals for heavy civil, power and infrastructure projects. This position is based in our Sarasota, FL corporate office and requires an on-site presence five days per week. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required. What You Will Do Support preparation of detailed estimates, bid packages, and proposals. Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications. Solicit and analyze vendor, supplier, and subcontractor quotations. Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and bid documentation. Assist with project risk reviews and scope analysis. Coordinate with operations, procurement, project management, and field teams. Participate in field visits and pre-bid meetings as needed. Support post-bid reviews and lessons learned. What to Expect As an Estimator, you will play an important role in supporting the successful pursuit and delivery of heavy civil, power, and infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with estimating, operations, procurement, project management, and field teams to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive bid proposals. This role offers exposure to a variety of projects, requiring both analytical thinking and practical construction knowledge to evaluate scope, risk, and project requirements. Based in our Sarasota corporate office, you'll collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while occasionally traveling to project sites and pre-bid meetings. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in heavy civil construction, including both field operations/project execution and cost estimating.
  • Candidates should possess approximately 2-3 years of field or project management and at least 2 years of estimating.
  • Basic understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and project delivery processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans/blueprints, specifications, contracts, bid documents, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables a plus), Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to estimate accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project assessments and site visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.
  • Prior experience working in an EPC company.
  • Experience using Access.
  • Experience with estimating software such as HeavyBid, HCSS, Sage Estimating, Bid2Win, or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to heavy civil, environmental remediation, power generation, utility, or disaster recovery projects.
  • Knowledge of FEMA-funded work, federal contracting, USACE projects, or public-sector procurement.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs using digital takeoff software.
  • Interest in pursuing Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other industry certifications.
