Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
  • Minimum supervision will be required with assigned tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings
  • Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work efforts essential
  • Mentor and assist with the development of Estimators
  • Identify and meet customers’ needs expectations and requirements
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Self-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

Nice To Haves

  • Expert Experience in Accubid estimating software, LiveCount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages a group of estimators to ensure all assigned estimates are complete and meet all expectations.
  • Plans, prepares, and completes bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
  • Mentors a team of direct reports.
  • Establishes project objectives, procedures, and deliverables.
  • Prepares the estimate from quantity take-off on the project and completes the estimate to computer printout.
  • Contributes to the overall technical strategy based on reviews of the front-end documents and works with senior estimators to establish an execution plan to meet the project objectives, procedures, and deliverables.
  • Identifies parts of the project that may be key to making a competitive estimate and evaluates possible areas for potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Reviews and approves proposal specifications, and drawings, and attends pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Provides direction to direct reports and ensures processes and procedures are followed and met.
  • Reviews labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Reviews quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specs.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
  • Reviews scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Provides the Chief Estimator and/or Operations with a detailed review of the scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
  • Meets with the project management team to fully explain the job scope, potential areas of attention, and other aspects for the successful transition of the project after a successful bid at project turnover.
  • Formally trains and supervises Estimators and Sr. Estimators in the company procedures and systems.
  • Sets goals and provides feedback based upon performance objectives.
