About The Position

Texas Precision Plating requires an Engineering Estimator with experience to lead front-end quoting operations, support production planning, and be technical resource for guidance. This role requires an engineering background to accurately calculate areas, evaluate chemical bath loading parameters, and design process routings for defense, commercial, industrial, aerospace components. The position bridges technical finishing knowledge with business operations to deliver profitable estimates while driving our initiatives toward AS9100 certification and NADCAP accreditation.

Requirements

  • Exceptional mathematical aptitude for complex surface area modeling, coupled with strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Operational understanding of surface finishing processes (e.g., Anodizing, Chemical Film, Passivation) and associated chemical safety protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline or technical school diploma.
  • 3+ years of direct engineering or estimating experience within a metal finishing, electroplating, or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience building traveler routings in an ERP system is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate complex RFQs, engineering blueprints, and technical specifications to determine precise metal finishing requirements and process feasibility, sequencing, planning and quality requirements.
  • Calculate part surface areas, rack densities, and required current density parameters to determine accurate labor, material, and processing costs.
  • Generate, manage, and deliver accurate customer quotes utilizing our ERP system, ensuring alignment with current shop capacity and pricing guidelines.
  • Interface directly with customers and vendors for technical clarification on masking tolerances, pre/post-treatments (e.g., hydrogen embrittlement relief), and production lead times.
  • Analyze historical job cost data versus initial estimates to continuously refine the accuracy of pricing models and improve overall margin capture.
  • Translate approved quotes into executable ERP work orders, planning, developing traveler documents and required process control gates.
  • Design initial racking methodologies and determine optimal chemical bath loading to maximize throughput without compromising coating uniformity.
  • Collaborate closely with production floor leadership to schedule jobs, prioritize critical components, and proactively resolve material shortages before jobs hit the plating lines.
  • Maintain the rigorous technical documentation standards required for AS9100 and NADCAP compliance, ensuring all chemical and processing parameters are strictly defined.
