About The Position

Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian securities marketplace. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms, Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms and Canadian portfolio managers. The Estates team manages all aspects of Fidelity Clearing Canada responsibilities relevant to estate management. The team is focused on building a culture that marries a focus on compliance, best practices, and risk mitigation with meeting client needs timely and accurately, providing alternatives where applicable. Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in operations or customer service processing, ideally in an estates group
  • Work within the financial industry
  • Post Secondary Education, or equivalent experience
  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • In-depth knowledge of estates and related legislation

Responsibilities

  • Administration of estate cases, including managing the initial notification of death, to partial/total estate disbursements, and estate residuals.
  • Requesting and reviewing appropriate documents for completeness, following up on incomplete documentation, and suggesting alternatives if required documentation is not available.
  • Consistently following the estates matrix, policy/procedures, and best practices.
  • Delivering excellent quality customer service interactions to internal and external customers.
  • Taking ownership of the estate case and collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Responsible for timely escalations and providing support to estates related initiatives.
  • Assisting with the creation and delivery of estate tax slips.
  • Providing backup for estate areas as needed.
  • Involvement with documentation review/update, projects, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Identifying opportunities for process and system enhancements and working with the team and leaders to implement them.
  • Researching and investigating inquiries and issues that are outside of the norm and bringing potential solutions to the table.
