About The Position

Paralegal provides substantive legal support to estate planning, as well as trust and probate administration attorneys. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex tasks in a fast‑paced environment with frequently shifting priorities. Paralegals work both independently and collaboratively to support client representation, case and matter management, and overall practice operations. The position involves regular interaction with clients, attorneys, courts, and staff and requires strict adherence to confidentiality and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and 3 years of paralegal experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal or factual issues and integrate information from multiple sources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw or equivalent)
  • Solid working knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and procedures relevant to law firm environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Excellent attention to detail, including advanced proofreading and document-quality skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff
  • Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and standard office technology
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, workflows, and practice-specific requirements

  • An equivalent combination of education and paralegal experience may be considered
  • Experience meeting billable hour expectations and managing multiple matters preferred
  • Experience with EDMs and Lowa Land Records (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive paralegal support to attorneys in connection with estate planning, trust and probate administration, transactions, and corporate compliance
  • Conduct factual and legal research; analyze, organize, and summarize information for attorney review
  • Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, forms, and reports in accordance with attorney direction and firm standards
  • Assist with case, matter, and document management, including maintaining accurate and well organized files in accordance with firm policies
  • Monitor and manage deadlines, calendars, and task lists to support timely completion of work
  • Coordinate with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, and firm staff as appropriate
  • Support billing, timekeeping, and matter reporting requirements
  • Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative teams across the firm
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on practice group or firm needs
