About The Position

The Instructional Coach plays a key role in improving the quality of teaching and learning at the school by providing direct support to teachers in the form of coaching, mentoring, and professional development. This role involves collaborating with teachers to implement research-based instructional strategies, supporting curriculum implementation, and facilitating continuous improvement in classroom practices. The Instructional Coach will also help to create a positive, collaborative environment that fosters professional growth for all educators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience with demonstrated success in student achievement.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educational technology.
  • Ability to coach and mentor teachers at various experience levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with teachers and school leaders.
  • Ability to model best teaching practices and support teachers in implementing them effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of educational research, data analysis, and the ability to use data to inform instructional practices.
  • Valid teaching certification (as required by the state or school district).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring teachers preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group coaching to teachers on best instructional practices, classroom management, and differentiation techniques.
  • Model lessons and co-teach with teachers to demonstrate effective instructional strategies.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback to teachers to enhance instructional practices and student engagement.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing student data to identify areas of growth and develop targeted instructional plans.
  • Support teachers in integrating technology and other resources into instruction to enhance student learning.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver professional development workshops and training sessions focused on instructional strategies, curriculum, and best practices.
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) to foster collaborative discussions and problem-solving among teachers.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up for professional development initiatives to ensure they are implemented effectively in classrooms.
  • Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices and share relevant resources with teachers to support their development.
  • Assist teachers in implementing the school’s curriculum with fidelity, ensuring that instructional practices align with state standards and district goals.
  • Provide guidance in adapting curriculum materials and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English language learners, and gifted students.
  • Work closely with the curriculum team to review and update instructional materials, strategies, and assessments.
  • Help teachers design and implement formative and summative assessments to measure student progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers to analyze student achievement data and identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions, helping teachers adjust their teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assist in setting academic goals for students and support teachers in tracking progress toward those goals.
  • Provide ongoing support in the use of data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to align instructional practices with the school’s goals and mission.
  • Participate in regular meetings with school leadership to discuss school improvement initiatives and instructional priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers and staff to foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented school culture.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to school-wide initiatives that aim to improve overall school performance.
  • Provide support for new teachers through mentoring and coaching to help them transition into their roles and develop effective teaching practices.
  • Work with veteran teachers to refine their skills, encouraging continued professional growth and development.
  • Performs other related jobs as assigned.
