About The Position

The ESOL Teacher is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with school and district strategic goals, with a particular focus on English Language Learners (ELLs). This role involves providing a rigorous academic environment that actively engages students, incorporates best educational practices, and creates an inclusive setting that addresses the needs of all learners while supporting their social and emotional development. The position also includes coaching and supporting other teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing instruction for ELLs, analyzing student data to identify areas for improvement, and participating in ongoing professional development to enhance job performance.

Requirements

  • An earned bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Florida certification in at least one area of exceptionality.
  • ESOL Endorsement
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to write IEPs
  • Knowledge of the referral, evaluation, and placement process.
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students.
  • Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.
  • Coaches and supports teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing quality instruction for ELLs.
  • Plans, models, and co-teaches effective lessons with teachers.
  • Analyzes ACCESS for ELLs, and assessment data to identify areas for improvement, establish goals, and monitor improvement.
  • Coordinates and facilitates teacher study group activities and the sharing of successful lessons to ensure the successful implementation of the program.
  • Meets regularly with ESL liaisons regarding classroom practices and ongoing feedback.
  • Participates in on-going professional development by attending workshops, lectures, and institutes on specific subjects to enhance job performance such as knowledge in language acquisition, literacy development, coaching skills, and adult learning theory.
