About The Position

The BCS Education Center is seeking a part-time ESOL Instructor to teach an English course integrated with hospitality job training for the restaurant and hotel industries. The center serves adult learners in the Brooklyn community through ESOL classes, GED preparation, and language-supported vocational training. Many students speak Spanish, Arabic, or Chinese as their first language.

The instructor will help adult learners meet measurable skills-gain, testing, and retention targets while fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, with 10 contact hours, 5 hours of lesson preparation, and 1 hour for a weekly staff meeting per week. The hourly rate is $42.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Certificate or higher in TESOL.
• Knowledge of TESOL methods and techniques.
• Experience working with multicultural adult learners.
• At least one year of teaching experience.
• Availability to teach Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.
• All employees entering the workplace must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless granted a medical or religious accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience in a community setting is preferred.
• Spanish, Arabic, and/or Chinese language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate ESOL classes for students in an integrated ESOL and job-training course.
