Requirements

TESOL degree, and/or TESOL certification from a state licensing agency
Minimum of two years of experience in TESOL instruction in a classroom setting with a structured curriculum
Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License
NYS driver's license check
State Central Register Clearance

Responsibilities

Creating lesson plans and directly teaching adults who speak English as a second language, utilizing a comprehensive curriculum.
Assessing students using standardized tools to determine their English language proficiency level and make appropriate adjustments by moving them between levels.
Networking within Catholic Charities and with external service providers to offer referrals that meet the needs of program participants and promote program objectives.
Timely record-keeping to meet funding source guidelines.
Supervising and providing guidelines to staff and volunteers.
Recruiting and evaluating program participants, monitoring their progress, and making recommendations for appropriate classes.
Maintaining accountability for all participants, staff, and volunteers.
Serving as a professional role model.
Collaborating effectively with other project staff.
Consistently maintaining compliance with funding source guidelines and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
