The ESL Teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, showing written evidence of preparation. Lessons will reflect accommodations for different student learning styles and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations. The teacher will establish efficient classroom management procedures, maintain standards of pupil behavior, and implement a system of student evaluation. They will continually evaluate and record students’ progress, reporting to parents as needed. The teacher will teach within the prescribed course of study, plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, and assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes. Identifying pupil needs and cooperating with other staff to help students resolve issues, being available for counseling, and interpreting the educational program to the community are also key responsibilities. The teacher will plan and coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers, and participate in the evaluation process. Accurate record-keeping and filing of required documents are essential. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
