About The Position

As a Youth Program Instructor, you'll lead engaging sports, recreation, wellness, and enrichment activities that help children build confidence, develop new skills, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma required.
• Successfully complete a background check and Child Abuse and Neglect screening.
• Obtain and maintain YMCA-required certifications before your start date, including: First Aid/CPR/AED Required Risk Management and Safety online training modules.

Nice To Haves

• College coursework preferred.
• Previous experience in education, recreation, physical education, teaching, or childcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead youth sports, recreation, wellness, and enrichment programs.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for participants of all skill levels.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities following YMCA guidelines.
• Set up and put away program equipment before and after activities.
• Maintain accurate program records and attendance.
• Share information about YMCA programs and services with members and families.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and other required events.
• Support additional program responsibilities as assigned.
• Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, including child abuse prevention and emergency protocols.
• Maintain appropriate supervision and healthy boundaries with children and teens.
• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive experience for every participant.
• Report safety concerns, policy violations, and suspected abuse according to YMCA procedures.
• Represent the YMCA with professionalism, enthusiasm, and integrity.
