The ESL Coordinator/Teacher coordinates and delivers English as a Second Language services for emergent bilingual students at Great Hearts Lakeside Lower School in Fort Worth. The position implements student identification and assessment procedures, develops and revises bilingual and ESL curriculum, supports teachers in adapting coursework, evaluates program effectiveness, and manages required language assessments and LPAC meetings. The coordinator manages the ESL classroom and service schedules, oversees ESL teachers and assistant teachers, and provides small-group pull-out ELAR instruction. The role also consults with families, school personnel, community agencies, and other relevant individuals; provides staff with resources and materials; and plans parent and advisory committee meetings. Additional duties include preparing budget estimates, assisting with purchases, maintaining required records and reports, training campus staff, and complying with applicable federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy. ESL teachers and coordinators participate in faculty-wide events and professional development. Their specialized support helps English learners access grade-level curriculum, develop academic English, and prepare for annual state assessments. The role requires a valid Texas ESL certification covering the assigned grade levels; TESOL and TEFL certifications do not satisfy this requirement.
