About The Position

Based in Dorval, the ESG Lead supports the implementation of SMARDT's ESG program across AMER, EMEA, and GAPAC. This role coordinates priorities and action plans with local teams, integrates ESG considerations into the Enterprise Risk Management framework, and safeguards the quality of ESG data, policies, and reporting. The ESG Lead is a practical partner to the business, translating regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and sustainability objectives into measurable, achievable actions.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, risk, compliance, environmental programs, or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, HVAC, clean technology, or engineering sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating cross-functional initiatives with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in multi-jurisdictional environments and with collecting, analyzing, and reporting ESG data.
  • Experience supporting customer sustainability requests, audits, or disclosure requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, engineering, environmental science, business, risk management, law, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles, emerging regulations, sustainability trends, and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent project management, coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • A data-driven mindset with close attention to data quality, governance, and reporting accuracy.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate with, and support stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Ability to translate ESG requirements into practical business actions and operational processes.
  • A hands-on approach focused on execution, continuous improvement, and measurable results.
  • Strong problem-solving, change-management, and communication skills.
  • English proficiency is required to collaborate with international teams and review documents and requirements from multiple regions.

Nice To Haves

  • An ESG- or sustainability-related certification, such as GRI, ISSP, or FSA, is an asset.
  • Bilingual English/French is preferred.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of SMARDT's ESG program and work with local leadership teams to execute initiatives and action plans.
  • Coordinate ESG activities and priorities across AMER, EMEA, and GAPAC to maintain alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day ESG support to business functions and regions, including responses to ESG-related inquiries from customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Help integrate ESG considerations into the Enterprise Risk Management framework, including risk identification and assessment, mitigation tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain ESG-related policies, procedures, standards, and guidance as business, regulatory, and governance requirements evolve.
  • Monitor ESG regulatory developments and customer requirements, and support the implementation of compliance and risk-mitigation activities.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze ESG data from global operations and support the development of performance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain ESG dashboards, reports, and supporting documentation to promote data integrity, transparency, and audit readiness.
  • Support internal and external ESG reporting, including customer questionnaires, sustainability disclosures, regulatory submissions, and audit requests.
  • Partner with regional teams to identify ESG performance gaps and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of corrective actions.
  • Develop and coordinate employee awareness and engagement initiatives, including communications, training, champion networks, and periodic updates on ESG progress.
  • Prepare materials and presentations for ESG governance forums, committees, and management reviews, and track resulting actions through completion.
