About The Position

The Learning Specialist at SkyView will be responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers, special education team members, and other support staff to ensure that students in grades K-5 have access to the learning support they need in order to succeed. This role involves participating in and/or leading IEP meetings, developing IEPs, providing support in general education classrooms, and offering one-on-one or small group support outside the classroom. The specialist will also administer learning evaluations, maintain documentation, and collaborate with various staff members to support the school's vision and mission.

Requirements

  • Special Education generalist license
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and record keeping
  • Proficient in technology
  • Familiar with the MTSS Process
  • Effective case management skills
  • Commitment to providing high expectations and high levels of support for all students
  • Belief that the most effective way to promote student achievement is through building meaningful relationships
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers/staff/team to meet the needs of students
  • Willingness to ask questions and consult with team members on a regular basis
  • Willingness to grow with the position and needs of the school
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with solid decision-making skills
  • Dedicated to being a respectable leader and role model at school and within the community
  • Teaching License - Colorado Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and/or lead annual IEP reviews, initial evaluation, and reevaluation meetings
  • Develop IEPs
  • Provide support in the general education classroom
  • Provide one-on-one and/or small group support outside the general education classroom
  • Administer comprehensive learning evaluations
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Student Services
  • Maintain proper documentation regarding IEPs, accommodations, and parent/teacher communications
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and Support Services staff regarding IEP students
  • Support implementation of the SVA vision & mission, helping set the tone and culture
  • Communicate proactively with students, staff, and parents
  • Embrace feedback from administration in a continuous improvement modality
  • Build appropriate professional relationships with students
  • Collaborate with other SVA staff in all aspects of the school
  • Participate in weekly special education team meeting
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration
