About The Position

The Underwriter (eRisk) is responsible for underwriting and servicing cyber-risk and Technology Errors & Omissions small business, including the review of insurance applications, evaluation of exposures, and the quoting, binding, and issuance of policies within delegated authority. The role supports profitable growth through strong broker relationships, adherence to underwriting guidelines, and effective management of policy transactions throughout the account lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Experience with cyber insurance and technology errors & omissions insurance products.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant underwriting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills; exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, strong organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills including Word, Excel: E-mail & Internet Based Technology.
  • Solid verbal and written communication, as well as math skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaboratively.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve underwriting production, profitability, and other financial targets for assigned brokers.
  • Review insurance applications and related underwriting information to evaluate cyber-risk and Technology E&O exposures.
  • Quote, rate, and bind new and renewal business for Cyber, Tech E&O, and related products within delegated underwriting authority.
  • Communicate to management concerns of key brokers and market opportunities.
  • Ensure policy transactions are rated, booked, invoiced, and issued accurately and meet corporate service standards. Transactions include quotes, new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
  • Manage and service in-force accounts, including responding to broker inquiries and handling policy changes.
  • Assist in quality verification of all policy transactions, processes, and procedures.
  • Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions and support service excellence by answering questions regarding policy status and insurance inquiries.
  • Communicate, as needed, with Accounting, Marketing, Claims, and other internal business partners to answer policy questions and resolve issues.
  • Proactively acquire knowledge and skills related to underwriting, products, and market trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
