About The Position

The ER Tech in the Emergency Department setting is responsible for assisting the RN and Physician with patient care, carrying out delegated tasks within their scope of practice. The ER Tech provides supportive care to the patients under the direction of the registered nurse in charge and/or physician. They perform patient skill sets such as taking height and weight measurements, vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and documenting as needed to assist the nurse and physician with patient care. The role involves applying proper techniques and practices while performing diagnostic testing using lab procedures and reporting lab results immediately to the Registered Nurse and/or Attending Physician. The ER Tech assists the Registered Nurse and Attending Physician with assessments, examinations, and treatment, and monitors stock and restocks supplies as needed. Additionally, they may assist in various office duties such as front office registration activities, filing, shredding, scanning, and data entry as needed or required by administration. The position requires demonstrating the ability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary team member, supporting and assisting team members in all activities.

Requirements

• Two (2) years experience as an ER Technician.
• CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Knowledge of general principles of medicine as can be derived from an EMT or paramedic training program.
• Must maintain calm in stressful and chaotic situations.
• Basic Computer knowledge.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS Certification encouraged.
• PALS Certification encouraged.

Responsibilities
