About The Position

The Emergency Room Technician (ER Tech) plays a critical role in supporting the emergency department by providing timely and efficient patient care under the supervision of medical professionals. This position is essential in ensuring that patients receive immediate attention and assistance during emergency situations, contributing to improved patient outcomes. The ER Tech assists with a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks, including patient transport, vital sign monitoring, and preparation of medical equipment. They act as a vital link between patients, nurses, and physicians, facilitating smooth communication and workflow within the emergency department. Ultimately, the ER Tech helps maintain a safe, organized, and responsive environment that supports rapid and effective emergency care delivery.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program or equivalent clinical training.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in an emergency room or acute care setting.
• Advanced certifications.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Additional healthcare certifications.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of licensed personnel, performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nurses in the delivery of patient care.
• Assist medical staff with patient care activities such as taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and collecting specimens.
• Prepare and maintain emergency room equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
• Transport patients to and from the emergency department and other hospital areas as needed.
• Provide support in patient triage by gathering initial information and helping to prioritize care under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the emergency room to comply with health and safety standards.
• Document patient information accurately and communicate observations to nursing and medical staff.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist with basic life support procedures as trained.
