About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician, under the supervision of nursing staff, assists in the provision of emergency care. This role performs duties and direct technical care requiring knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical technology. The technician reports and documents treatment activities in the patient medical record and any unusual incidents. The position works to meet Department, Hospital and Hunt Regional Healthcare goals.

Requirements

Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic
One year minimum EMT or Paramedic experience
Appropriate CPR Certification

Responsibilities

Assists in the provision of emergency care under the supervision of nursing staff.
Performs duties and direct technical care requiring knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical technology.
Reports and documents treatment activities in the patient medical record.
Reports and documents any unusual incidents.
Works to meet Department, Hospital and Hunt Regional Healthcare goals.
Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

Attends required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.

Participates in huddles.
Promptly reports events to the Shift Manager regarding med errors, falls, concerns, etc.
Supportive of management decisions regarding allocation of personnel and is willing to float as needed.
Ensures that appropriate physician orders are followed.
Ensures communication to the nurse of the patient's progress, changes in condition, needs and preferences.
Instructs patients and family members of hospital routines and procedures.
Documents treatments and procedures in the medical record.
Promotes a positive work environment that enhances professional respect, growth, creativity, and active participation in achieving of the mission and vision of the organization.
Completes required education in a timely manner.
Participates in unit based projects.
