Interviews incoming patient or representative and enters information required for admission into computer. Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, individual or insurance company Responsible for payment of bill and any other pertinent information required. Explains hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges. Escorts patient or arranges for escort to assigned room or department. Enters patient admitting information into computer and routes printed copy to designated department. Obtains signed statement from patient to protect hospital’s interests. May compile data for occupancy. May store patient’s valuables. May receive payments on account. Assists in all other areas of office function as directed by the Department Director. May only perform non-clinical duties. Clinical roles involve bedside care, these duties will only be performed by Nurses, Physicians or Therapists Take vital signs Move and/or transport patients from ER to Other areas Collect all specimens except blood. Personal care on patients Can perform EKG’s and put oxygen on patient. Fill out requisitions. Taking general information on patients. Answer telephone. Deliver specimens to Lab Department. Clean and prepare ER patient rooms for next patient. Clean and resupply stockroom. All other duties as assigned by RN, except giving medications.
