About The Position

Provide and manage direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within the emergency room. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all inclusive.

Requirements

  • MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree.
  • At least three (3) years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
  • Current State of Arizona License in the designated area of Medical Subspecialty.
  • Current Federal DEA certification.
  • ACLS certified, PALS Certified, and ATLS or in substitution of an ATLS a completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
  • Board Certified or eligible for Board certification in designated area of Medical Subspecialty.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program and background investigation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Advanced working knowledge understanding of current principles, methods, and procedures for delivery of medical care within designated area of medical sub-specialty.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Provide triage and emergency lifesaving treatments including airway management (RSI – Endotracheal intubation), tube Thoracotomy, and all other procedures necessary to carry out protocol’s as outlined in ACLS, PALS, ATLS.
  • Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for patients in the emergency room.
  • Provide direct patient care in emergency room settings.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Admit patients to hospital as appropriate.
  • Train and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical clinic or patient care unit.
  • Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Participate in policy and procedure manual review and update.
  • Participate in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of records.
  • Contribute to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
