About The Position

Wolfe Research is seeking an experienced Associate to join its NY Based Extel-ranked Chemicals, Agriculture & Packaging Team. The Associate will report to the Senior Analyst and will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the franchise including modeling, note writing, and helping to create differentiated research analyses. As they develop, responsibilities will expand to include communicating with clients and sales/traders, as well as participating in the creative process. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a great deal of critical thinking. Strong writing, modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are required. Experience in equity research, investment banking, public accounting, consulting or in the industry is preferred.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in sell-side research (preferably on a Chemicals/ Materials/ Energy (Midstream) or Industrials team), on the buy-side, investment banking, public accounting, consulting or industry experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, concentration in Finance, Accounting, Math, or Statistics preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of financial modeling, experience building and maintaining 3-statement models.
  • Fully licensed with Series 7, 63, 86 & 87 preferred or expected to be completed within the first 6 months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must enjoy following the stock market and developing industry themes.
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated academic ability with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Comfortable working 10+ hour workdays and some weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus.
  • Bloomberg and/or FactSet skills helpful.
  • Advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, short cuts), and statistics (regression, variance, covariance, and correlations).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in all aspects of the franchise including modeling, note writing, and helping to create differentiated research analyses.
  • Communicating with clients and sales/traders.
  • Participating in the creative process.
  • Generating ideas.
  • Working closely and communicating effectively in a time sensitive environment.
  • Balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Drafting reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news.
  • Working with large data sets in Excel/Access.
  • Sourcing and processing information independently.
  • Building and updating financial and valuation models for the companies covered.
  • Using mastery of Excel functions: shortcuts, developing complex logic formulas, mastery of reference formulas, ability to integrate graphics/data tables, formatting, and basic programming.
