About The Position

The Sustainability team at Canaccord Genuity plans to hire an equity research associate to be based in the company’s Boston office. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, intellectually curious, critical thinker who is both artistically-minded and detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about Sustainability, future mobility and the markets. You will join as part of a team supporting a very experienced Managing Director of Sustainability Equity Research with a mentorship/partnership philosophy relative to all members of the team. As an associate supporting the franchise, your responsibilities will be all-encapsulating. Primary responsibilities will be to anticipate and track relevant industry trends, writing sections of equity research reports, and building/updating financial models. An effective research associate will become self-sufficient to a level that allows the Senior Analyst to spend more time on outward facing research and client contact. Over time, the associate will become the Senior Analyst’s trusted partner, assisting in nearly all aspects of the franchise.

Requirements

  • Passionate about stocks and the financial markets.

  • Series SIE, 63, 86, 87 will be required soon after starting the position, but are not prerequisites for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Track coverage of company products, strategies, catalysts, and competitors.
  • Gather information from industry conferences, blogs, trade journals, regulatory documents, interaction with company executives, and live site visits.
  • Conduct outbound surveys and key opinion leader (KOL) diligence calls with industry contacts.
  • Summarize key quarterly updates from earnings calls.
  • Fully and independently update financial models, cash flow and balance sheet models.
  • Incorporate conclusions/positioning commentary text provided by the senior analyst.
  • Prepare 20+ page initiation of coverage reports, including text, graphics, and complete models and valuation methodologies.
  • Communicate key aspects of investment opinions for companies within coverage, both internally and externally, after passing regulatory tests.
  • Possess strong organization and time management skills.
  • Help prioritize key initiatives that create differentiation and long-term value for the franchise and firm overall.
  • Work independently and be accountable for delivering 100% factually and logically accurate work under tight time constraints.
