About The Position

Morgan Stanley Investment Research is committed to being an essential part of clients' investment processes by understanding the buy-side perspective. Through engagement with leading investors, the team focuses on identifying investor debates, assessing potential outcomes, and providing evidence for investment decisions. The Equity Research department analyzes macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions, company fundamentals, and financial information to make investment recommendations. Research analysts create financial models, examine industries, and communicate with companies and investors through research notes. This role is for a junior Analyst or Associate-level team member to join the Media & Entertainment / Cable & Telco team.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in equity research, or investment banking
  • Experience using Excel to build and maintain three-statement financial models; advanced Excel proficiency is required
  • Professional writing experience, including crafting equity research notes and developing industry reports
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure
  • High EQ, strong personal drive, energy, creativity, curiosity, organization, and a team-oriented mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Strong PowerPoint skills are preferred
  • CFA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain financial and industry models, leveraging skills in accounting, finance, and economics
  • Assist in writing research reports for initiations of coverage, analysis of data, earnings results, and industry news
  • Monitor industry-related news flow and analyze implications for companies under coverage
  • Develop and maintain relationships with investor relations personnel and management of companies under coverage
  • Conduct industry diligence and primary research through surveys, expert conference calls, and various channel checks to evaluate industry trends
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce larger industry reports
  • Leverage all available resources to generate differentiated insights for writing research reports (company-specific or industry)
  • Support internal sales and trading teams with timely analysis of sector breaking news
  • Engage with institutional investors, responding effectively to in-depth questions and bespoke requests
