About The Position

Wellington Management is seeking to recruit an Equity Research Analyst (Analyst) to join their Small Cap Value Opportunities Portfolio Management team. This team invests opportunistically in US small-cap companies with attractive valuations, quality, and capital returns. The Analyst will focus on generating alpha through differentiated fundamental research, operating primarily as a generalist across sectors. The role involves contributing to idea generation and security selection within a collaborative investment environment.

Requirements

  • Passion for investing and experience or interest in investing in small cap stocks with a value-oriented style.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and a robust fundamental toolkit.
  • Willingness to dig into complex problems and develop insights through independent work and critical thinking.

  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience with demonstrated success as an investment analyst, preferably on the buy-side.
  • Generalist mindset and experience, with flexibility to cover multiple sectors; or a sector expert with openness to expanding.
  • Track record of making successful investment recommendations and generating alpha.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and financial modeling skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort taking risks.
  • Self-awareness and self-confidence to be comfortable “being wrong”.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience in a collaborative, team-based, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intensive, bottom-up fundamental research to drive the investment process.
  • Develop differentiated investment views and communicate findings to the Value portfolio manager.
  • Incorporate top-down perspectives, including sector and macro views.
  • Apply a disciplined and detailed approach within the portfolio philosophy and process.
  • Conduct deep, high-velocity research at pace.
  • Perform strong financial analysis and utilize a robust fundamental toolkit.
  • Dig into complex problems and develop insights through independent work and critical thinking.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships internally with colleagues and externally with company management teams.
  • Take risks and challenge investment views.
