Equity Research Analyst, Small and SMID Cap Growth
About The Position
Wellington Management is seeking an Equity Research Analyst to join their Small Cap Growth (SCG) Portfolio Management team, which manages over $9 billion in small and SMID cap growth strategies. The Analyst will focus on alpha generation and possess expertise in industrials, technology, or healthcare companies, or function in a generalist capacity. The role requires a fundamental, research-oriented, bottom-up approach to investing in small or SMID cap stocks with a Growth to GARP style, incorporating top-down perspectives. The successful candidate will be an individual contributor within a collaborative team, building strong relationships internally and externally, and comfortable challenging investment views while learning from others. A growth mindset, flexibility, and openness to continuous learning are essential.
Requirements
- Experience and passion investing in small or SMID cap stocks with a Growth to GARP style.
- Fundamental, research-oriented, bottom-up approach.
- Ability to incorporate top-down perspectives such as sector and macro views.
- Ability to consider ideas through a highly analytical and detailed approach.
- Ability to effectively communicate findings to the portfolio manager and team.
- Enjoy being an individual contributor within a highly collaborative team.
- Ability to take risk and challenge investment views.
- Humility to admit mistakes and desire to learn from others.
- Recognize the benefits of diverse perspectives.
- Ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) action-oriented opinions clearly and with conviction.

- A minimum of 8-12+ years of experience with small, SMID or mid cap equity research and/or portfolio management.
- Strong bottom-up fundamental approach to research.
- Intellectual curiosity and comfort taking risks.
- Self-awareness and self-confidence to be comfortable “being wrong”.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience in a collaborative, team-based, results-oriented environment.
- Strong academic credentials.

- Generalist capacity.
- Sector expertise in healthcare and/or technology preferred; generalist coverage will also be considered.
- MBA/CFA preferred.
