About The Position

Glenbard Township HSD 87 is committed to closing opportunity gaps that are manifested in the achievement gap. The primary goal of this position is to develop and implement targeted and specific programming that leads to improved outcomes for all students, especially students of color. This position reports to the Principal and Susanna Melon, Assistant Director for Student Services, Multilingual Learners and District Equity. Posting encompasses six positions at Glenbard East (1), North (1), South (1), West (1), Directions (1), and District Office (1).

Requirements

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
  • Equity Trained
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Ability to work with adolescents
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Essential organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to accept responsibility for the tasks of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record of changing predicted student outcomes by addressing the performance gap
  • Demonstrated skills in group facilitation skills and/or coaching
  • Knowledge and experience in providing professional development or coaching in the areas of equity, multicultural education, Critical Pedagogy or Critical Race Theory
  • Knowledge of change process and reform efforts
  • Ability to analyze and interpret student achievement data with a focus in identifying patterns with an equity focus
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educational leaders and diverse members of the school community
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and practices that lead to transformational outcomes for students
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to collaborate and exercise leadership to meet goals and objectives

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead student leadership events and college nights.
  • Facilitate student equity groups.
  • Mentor students and provide targeted supports.
  • Coordinate transportation, events, and outreach.
  • Coordinate and meet with specific student groups to honor student voice.
  • Support and collaborate with parents, teachers, staff, families and community members to ensure all students have access to an equitable learning environment.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations with students, parents, and staff that will challenge and encourage students to achieve both socially, academically and transform the school culture.
  • Identify goals and objectives pertaining to student needs within the building.
  • Provide students with post-secondary preparation.
  • Development of student leadership through intentional and strategic programming.
  • Identify educational barriers that prevent our students from reaching their academic potential.
  • Coordinate with administrators and staff to provide mentorship and training opportunities for students and staff.
  • Design and implement programs to raise academic achievement and create a culturally inclusive school culture.
  • Monitor and report growth and progress data, including an annual presentation to the School Board.
  • Collaborate with administrators, other coordinators, and liaisons within the district.
