About The Position

We are looking for an Equity Analyst to assist in managing the Nicola Canadian Equity Income Fund. This role requires an engaged self-starter who remains calm under pressure, possesses excellent analytical skills, and can clearly present and share ideas in a continually changing environment. The analyst will be responsible for generating investment ideas, performing in-depth due diligence on companies across multiple industries, gathering and analyzing information from various sources, building financial models, and evaluating businesses under different scenarios. This is a hybrid role located in either our Toronto or Vancouver office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in analyzing Canadian, U.S. and/or International Equities.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline.
  • Strong interest in and demonstrated understanding of investment analysis.
  • Financial industry designation completed (CFA, CA, CPA, etc.) or minimum completion of Level 2 of the CFA Program.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation analysis using Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bloomberg is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Generating investment ideas within a collaborative team.
  • Performing in-depth due diligence on companies across multiple industries as a generalist investor.
  • Gathering and analyzing information across different sources.
  • Engaging with senior management teams and industry participants.
  • Building company models and evaluating businesses under different scenarios.
  • Building presentations and presenting our findings to our Advisory Services Team, Investment Committee, and clients.
  • Working with other departments within the asset management group to enhance knowledge sharing and investment returns.
