About The Position

Etched is seeking a technically exceptional accounting leader to manage its external financial reporting and equity accounting functions. The role involves leading the SEC reporting process, overseeing equity accounting, and developing the necessary reporting infrastructure, controls, and systems for a rapidly growing, public-company-ready finance organization. This is a significant opportunity for an individual who thrives on solving complex technical accounting issues and building processes from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA required (or actively pursuing).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial SEC reporting exposure (either from a public company or Big 4/public accounting with SEC clients).
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and XBRL.
  • Hands-on experience with equity accounting, including stock-based compensation, EPS, and APIC roll-forwards.
  • Experience with external reporting/disclosure management software like Workiva or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).

  • Big 4 public accounting experience.
  • Experience with equity management platforms such as Carta, Shareworks, Equity Edge, Fidelity, or Solium.
  • Prior experience leading a system implementation or process improvement initiative.
  • Experience in a high-growth or newly public company environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during close periods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage stock-based compensation accounting, equity reconciliations, EPS and dilution calculations, and equity-related SEC disclosures.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Legal, and Stock Administration to ensure accurate recording of equity transactions and consistency between the cap table, equity systems, and general ledger.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, financial statement footnotes, MD&A, and XBRL tagging.
  • Act as the primary accounting liaison with external auditors, maintain SOX controls, and assess new accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of Workiva (or a similar reporting platform), establishing scalable reporting workflows and automating manual processes.
  • Research and document technical accounting positions for complex transactions, including equity modifications and other non-routine accounting matters.
