About The Position

The Equipment Technician/Machinist role is responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various equipment and systems. This position requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical components, along with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility. The role is not that of a machine operator, but rather focuses on repairing machine breakdowns, troubleshooting problems, addressing speed of operation issues, and resolving waste issues. Experience with car engines, boat engines, auto mechanical backgrounds, HVAC, and low voltage electronics and sensors are beneficial. High-speed manufacturing experience is also a plus.

Requirements

Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
At least 2-5 years of experience in machine troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in all mechanical aspects.
Proven experience as a Mechanical and Electrical Technician in a manufacturing environment or a similar setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors, as well as electrical systems, including control panels, wiring, and circuits.
Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Must be able to stand and/or walk, bend, stoop, or crouch for 8-12 hour shifts.
Must be able to handle machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
Must be a US Citizen or GC Holder or GC EAD or OPT or EAD or CPT.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Performs regular maintenance and inspections on mechanical and electrical systems, including but not limited to machinery, motors, conveyors, and control systems, to ensure optimal functionality.
Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, diagnoses problems, and carries out necessary repairs or replacements.
Conducts preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and prolong the lifespan of machinery and systems.
Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical components, such as gears, bearings, belts, and hydraulic systems, as well as electrical components, including wiring, circuits, and control panels.
Collaborates with the maintenance team to develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules and strategies that optimize production efficiency.
Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, and participates in safety training programs to maintain a safe work environment.
Keeps detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, parts used, and equipment performance.
Assists in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery, ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems are functioning correctly.
Stays updated with the latest developments in mechanical and electrical technology and participates in relevant training programs as needed.
Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Set-up, operate, optimize, changeover/troubleshoot, and maintain assigned departmental production equipment.
Responsible for meeting/exceeding production standards, maintaining product quality, minimizing/preventing equipment downtime, and sustaining budgeted waste levels on a daily basis.
