Under general supervision, this position plans, schedules, and performs tasks in the assembly, repair, and maintenance of complex or intricate electromechanical equipment. The Electromechanical Maintenance Technician performs advanced maintenance, repair, and fabrication work on complex electromechanical systems and small engine equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters and hydraulic pumps. Working under minimal supervision, this position plans and schedules maintenance activities, assembles and troubleshoots equipment, and performs detailed inspections to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑quality operations across City of Austin work sites. This role is responsible for creating and managing preventative maintenance schedules, completing complex diagnostic and repair tasks, and estimating labor, material, and repair costs for budgeting purposes. The technician also manages parts and supplies, oversees contracted maintenance services, and ensures all work complies with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements. The position provides leadership by training and guiding other technicians, coordinating work activities, and supporting efficient maintenance operations. Additional duties include maintaining accurate service records, technical documentation, and parts inventories.
