Equipment Service Technician Chet’s Rent-All is an established equipment and tool rental company serving contractors, homeowners, and hands-on project enthusiasts throughout the greater Detroit area since 1946. With eight locations and decades of experience, we provide reliable equipment, knowledgeable service, and practical solutions that help our customers get the job done right.We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused Equipment Service Technician to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll help ensure our rental equipment is safe, clean, reliable, and ready for the next customer.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with equipment, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants to develop their mechanical and technical skills. Previous equipment experience is a plus, but we’re willing to train the right candidate. We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Chauffeur license preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other yard equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and handle equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and identify maintenance needs.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills for completing checklists, service records, and rental documentation.
  • Understanding of small engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, or construction equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers and partners.
  • Operate equipment for loading and unloading for customers, internal drivers, and outside haulers.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Explain safe operating procedures of equipment to customers.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure equipment is safe and in proper working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard, storage areas, and workspaces.
  • Clean and maintain the appearance of equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment or facility.
  • Complete inspection checklists and report issues to the Store Manager.
  • Inspect returned equipment for damage, missing parts, or maintenance needs.
  • Secure equipment to prevent accidents, hazards, or unauthorized use.
  • Support team members as needed.
