About The Position

Decker Truck Line is a family-owned company with over 95 years in business, recognized for its excellence in the trucking industry. The Maintenance Department is expanding and seeking an Equipment Sales Department Manager to oversee the sale of the company's vehicle inventory, including trucks, trailers, and miscellaneous vehicles. The goal is to maximize sales gains for the company while maintaining a strong customer reputation. This role offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary plus commission and can be based at the Fort Dodge headquarters or the Des Moines Maintenance Facility.

Requirements

  • Medium & heavy truck and trailer Sales experience - 2 years preferred
  • Experience in the heavy-duty truck industry
  • Familiar with the commercial community
  • Strong customer service & sales skills
  • Commercial driver’s license preferred
  • Bi-lingual a plus
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Computer/telephone skills to include Microsoft office
  • Initiative-taking
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work between Decker locations
  • Commitment to company core values

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Decker Truck Line's used tractors and trailers by identifying and developing the customer base.
  • Maintaining monthly sales objective goals.
  • Building and maintaining accurate reports to provide data to the Decker executive group, immediate management, and Asset management group.
  • Communicating in a method appropriate for the purpose of discussing the daily business and any other situations.
  • Calls to prospective and previous customers.
  • Complete weekly sales call sheets.
  • Keep current on market and customer trends and document all activity in the company’s database.
  • Identify and profile prospective customers.
  • Work with internal Decker asset and maintenance departments to monitor, receive and prep available equipment to meet established condition parameters.
  • Take pictures and format advertising.
  • Manage advertising with available vendors.
  • Assisting in the transportation of the equipment from the terminal location to varied vendor locations as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Attendance at required dealership classes.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Inventory control to minimize days on lot.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations of sales department staff.
  • Review market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company within budget limitations.
  • Stay current on required Dealer education and classes.
  • Analyze trade-in vs sales value.
