About The Position
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Equipment Repair Technician – Install in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Installing, removing, and repairing police, communications and other electronic equipment in VSP vehicles. Servicing and repairing motor vehicles.
Requirements
- Knowledge of equipment installation procedures and techniques related to police, communications, and other electronic equipment.
- Skill in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing motor vehicles.
- Skill in the safe use of shop, woodworking, and mechanical hand tools.
- Ability to operate a rollback car carrier.
- Ability to read and comprehend automotive and equipment manuals, schematic diagrams, and other related technical documents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing with personnel.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
- Previous experience or training in the electrical/electronic/automobile field.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Virginia State Inspection certification preferred.
