About The Position

Position Title: Equipment Repair Specialist Department: Maintenance Position Status: Full-time, Hourly – Collective Bargaining Unit Responsibilities/ Duties: • Repairs, services and performs routine preventive maintenance and diagnostic tests on various types of equipment (e.g., feeders, mobile and stationary compressors, conveyers, crusher, Cushman scooters, exhaust fans, filter controls, generators, meters, power saws, Zoo Mobile, small engines including diesel engines, , various power machines, hydraulic systems, etc.) • Inspects all mechanical equipment, engines, etc. and replaces appropriate parts. • Tests mobile and stationary equipment to assess mechanical problems and to ensure proper repairs as required. Prepares parts orders for purchases as requested or required. • Keeps accurate records on maintenance equipment. • May assist in the unloading of materials (e.g. liquid asphalt, mineral filter, etc.). • May operate appropriate equipment (e.g. cutting torch, hoisting cranes, etc.) as requested or required. • May drive truck of less than one ton in daily routine and may drive trucks (less than 26,001 pounds) as assigned. Other Functions: • Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel as assigned or required. • Performs other related duties as required. Performance Factors: 1. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments. 2. Provides excellent customer service in the areas of guest relations and park beautification: • Answers visitor inquiries or finds someone who can. • Is knowledgeable of location of exhibits, restrooms, concessions, rentals, etc. • Disposes of litter and waste throughout the park and zoo facilities. Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills: A minimum of five years previous experience required; must have considerable knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the repair and servicing of various types of equipment, the mechanical operation of various types of equipment and engines, ability to accurately use various diagnostic tools and instruments related to the work, ability to maintain and properly perform minor to major repairs on equipment and engines. Physical Requirements: Position is physically demanding and works primarily outdoors with exposure to inclement weather conditions; requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

A minimum of five years previous experience required
Must have considerable knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the repair and servicing of various types of equipment, the mechanical operation of various types of equipment and engines
Ability to accurately use various diagnostic tools and instruments related to the work
Ability to maintain and properly perform minor to major repairs on equipment and engines
