About The Position

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) is seeking an Equipment Repair Mechanic to join its Campus Operations team. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of equipment essential to daily operations and event execution. The Equipment Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of equipment, including housekeeping, grounds, kitchen, and event-related assets, utilizing knowledge of mechanical systems and basic electrical/engineering principles. The position involves a high degree of independence, prioritizing work based on operational demands and event needs, contributing to preventative maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, and overall operational readiness. Responsibilities include repairing catering equipment, motorized carts, lifts, appliances, and other facility equipment, as well as supporting installations, maintenance projects, and special assignments across the campus.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years experience performing similar type duties.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and preventative maintenance practices for motorized carts, forklifts, power tools, vacuums, catering equipment, tables, chairs, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, inventory control practices, and computerized maintenance work order systems.
  • Skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting equipment issues and prioritizing repairs based on operational and event needs.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Skilled in providing professional customer service and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and equipment repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to identify equipment misuse, excessive damage, or replacement needs and communicate findings appropriately.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced event environment.
  • Ability to work flexible and irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two- (2) year college or technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical/electrical, physical component repair and maintenance work on equipment such as motorized carts, forklifts, vacuum cleaners, power tools, catering type equipment, tables, chairs, etc.
  • Maintain records, including use of the computerized maintenance work order system, relative to repairs, preventative maintenance, work orders, parts and supply usage, and labor expended.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when equipment being serviced appears to have been improperly used or abused.
  • Maintain inventory control and dispense maintenance and repair parts and supplies.
  • Assist in determining when equipment should be salvaged due to repetitive repairs, high operating costs, or excessive damages.
  • Prioritize repairs based on event needs.
  • Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis on providing exhibitors and clients with the highest level of customer service.
  • Perform other duties such as assisting with installation of Engineering Services for Events, maintenance projects, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
