About The Position

An Equipment Operator job is available with the Transportation and Public Works/Stormwater Operations Division. Stormwater Operations maintains over 1,000 miles of Storm drainpipe and approximately 300 miles of open channels, ensuring our citizens are safe from flooding. Candidates selected for this position will work in the Inlet Cleaning Program, assisting a crew leader with inlet and lateral line cleaning and inspecting inlets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience
  • Possession of a Class A Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement will be required within six (6) months of hire; Operations of a vactor as required

  • Experience with various hand tools, vacuum trucks, and tools or equipment related to assigned division

Responsibilities

  • Pulling and hooking up high-pressure hoses when cleaning storm drains and pipes. This includes truck positioning, feeding, and retrieving high-pressure lines from pipes
  • Operates various hand tools
  • Identify and clean storm lines, manholes, and inlets as necessary
  • Work in all weather conditions and have the ability to crawl into pipes and inlets that range from 18” in diameter and up, willing to get dirty
  • Equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to maintenance operations
