About The Position

Nikita Construction is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for its projects with Sandman Hotel Group in Sudbury/ON. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, our Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety regulations and company policies. They will follow project specifications and timelines, working efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines. Effective communication with supervisors and team members is essential to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  • Valid operator certification and driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans and markings.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and team collaboration.
  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
  • Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
  • Possesses and maintains necessary tools, equipment, and protective gear.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with health & safety regulations, procedures and company policies.
  • Adheres to project specifications and timelines ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Work in conjunction with crew members to complete field projects or tasks.
  • Displays high levels of motivation, energy and forward-thinking.
  • Listens attentively and follows instructions carefully.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, front loader, rolling machine, skidsteer.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Follow site plans, markings, and instructions to carry out tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and site crew to ensure smooth and timely project execution.
  • Comply with all safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or site hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Support the growth and development of company culture.
  • Perform other duties as required.
