About The Position

The Equipment Operator is responsible for performing various tasks related to golf course maintenance, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. This role involves operating a range of equipment, maintaining turf and landscape areas, and contributing to project work. The operator must adhere to club policies, safety regulations, and provide excellent service to members.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Perform tasks following Bluejack National high level of standards as outlined in the Training Manual and Operating Standards Manual.
  • High School diploma preferred but not required
  • Operate all turf equipment
  • Proven skills with the ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended period of time.
  • Available for 24-hour re-call in emergency situations.
  • Exhibit sound time management and organizational skills.
  • Ensure the supplies needed to operate are properly stocked.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work station that is member ready.
  • Ability to function under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions

Responsibilities

  • Operate hover mowers and string trimmers in trimming around trees, fence lines, lake banks, bunker edges and hillsides.
  • Edge cart paths.
  • Edge, rake, and maintain sand bunkers.
  • Sand tee tops and drop area divots.
  • Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, blowers, etc.
  • Drive utility vehicle or other vehicles as needed to complete tasks.
  • Remove trash to provide a clean golf course for members.
  • Wash and return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.
  • Assist in project work; grades and prepares soil bases, lays sod and sprigs.
  • Perform other duties as directed by assistant superintendent or superintendent.
  • Operate all powered golf course maintenance equipment safely and proficiently, with awareness of golfer safety.
  • Check levels of oil and fuel bringing them up to proper level if necessary at the beginning of each day.
  • Perform walk around inspection of any other possible defects or fluid leaks at the beginning of each day.
  • Report any problems to Mechanic or Equipment Manager at the beginning of each day.
  • Make minor adjustments to equipment including testing of hand control levers, buttons and pedals to start and regulate speed of motor at the beginning of operation.
  • Ensure required pressure is attained and that panel gauges and lights are functioning properly at the beginning of operation.
  • Notify supervisor of any malfunctions at the beginning of operation.
  • Wash, add fuel and lubricate equipment at the end of each day.
  • Perform walk around inspection of equipment looking for any damage that may have occurred, or excessive wear that will need repair at the end of each day.
  • Report any findings to the Mechanic I or Mechanic Supervisor at the end of each day.
  • Become knowledgeable about the correct cutting heights throughout the golf course.
  • Maintain good customer relations and be considerate of golfers.
  • Observe and report any turf, landscape and equipment problems.
  • Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of company property.
  • Dig trenches as directed.
  • Lift bags of fertilizer up to 50 pounds.
  • Work with various types of tools (i.e., edger’s, rotary mowers, hand blowers, hand tools, fly mowers, etc.).
  • Irrigate areas as instructed.
  • Mow designated areas with proper mower as directed.
  • Inform supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services.
  • Be a Bluejack National ambassador at all times.
  • Attend all relevant operational meetings.
  • Support the Development / Club Customs, Culture and Rules.
  • Adhere to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment.
  • Attend to special projects and additional duties as requested by Director of Agronomy, Superintendent and Assistant.
  • All other duties as assigned.
