About The Position

Savage is seeking a dedicated Equipment Operator to join their team in the Carbon/Emery area. This role involves operating heavy equipment, supporting yard operations, and performing various site duties to ensure efficiency and safety. The position requires flexibility with shifts, a commitment to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and customers.

Requirements

  • Willingness to help with all worksite duties as directed by the site operations manager.
  • Demonstrates worksite dependability by being punctual and present for scheduled work shifts.
  • Determined to always wear the appropriate and required PPE.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Demonstrates excellent workplace safety and is dedicated to helping others do the same.
  • Willingness and ability to follow all rules and procedures as outlined by Savage.
  • Willingness and ability to work on holidays and weekends when needed.
  • Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, which includes basic skills in reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in varying conditions, subject to all elements.
  • Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
  • Climb on and off railcars, heavy equipment, and tie processing equipment safely.
  • Work 40 plus hours (possible weekends).
  • Work on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time while performing duties that include walking, standing, and lifting.
  • Able to use basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment proficiently, including completing pre-shift inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Support yard flow by minimizing truck delays and maintaining accurate pile identification.
  • Perform non-equipment tasks as needed, including hand labor, repairs, and general site cleanup.
  • Maintain daily worksite cleanliness and meet MSHA standards.
  • Follow supervisors' directions, complete assigned tasks, and maintain punctuality.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, reliable communication, and professional interaction.
  • Participate in SHAPS hazard identification/observations.
  • Assist with shift coverage related to volume changes or vacation needs.
  • Show commitment to safe work practices and continual skill development.
