About The Position

The Equipment Operator position is responsible for learning the routine operation of all earth-moving equipment used by the Company and achieving entry-level operating proficiency within three months. This role involves performing minor repairs and general maintenance on equipment, including greasing, oiling, and refueling, and assisting with major repairs as needed. The operator will also perform duties of other classifications when not operating earth-moving equipment and assist in duties of higher classifications for potential promotion. The role may require working in the field without direct supervision and may involve handling hazardous waste, with training provided to meet regulatory requirements. This is a DOT safety-sensitive position, and any applicant transferring from a non-safety-sensitive role will need to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Additionally, after-hours and weekend emergency coverage on a rotating basis will be required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have elementary knowledge of gasoline and diesel motors and automotive equipment.
  • Must have some experience in operation and repair of construction & automotive equipment.
  • Must have a good degree of mechanical ability and knowledge of earth-moving equipment.
  • Must have a CDL B license and possess a good driving record.
  • Must have the aptitude and skill to operate all Distribution Division equipment and tools in a safe and fully satisfactory manner.
  • Must have knowledge of the layout of the streets within the territory served by the Company.
  • Must be able to perform the duties of other classifications and to assist crew when not operating earth-moving equipment.
  • Must be a citizen of the country of the vacancy or comply with applicable immigration requirements to legally work in that country.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen if transferring from a non-safety-sensitive position.
