About The Position

The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment in support of construction activities on industrial and clean energy projects. This role plays a critical part in earthworks, material handling, grading, and site preparation while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating equipment on construction or industrial projects.
Valid Equipment Operator certification or equivalent experience.
Valid provincial driver’s licence.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong knowledge of safe equipment operation and construction site safety.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and rotational schedules as required by the project.

Nice To Haves

Experience on energy, infrastructure, or large-scale civil construction projects considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Operate equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, skid steers, loaders, and rollers in a safe and efficient manner.
Perform earthmoving, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material placement activities.
Conduct daily pre-operational inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
Work closely with site supervisors, labourers, and other trades to meet project schedules.
Read and interpret site plans, grades, and stakes.
Ensure compliance with all Barton Malow Canada safety policies, including toolbox talks and hazard assessments.
Adhere to environmental practices and spill prevention procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Report equipment defects, safety concerns, or incidents promptly.
Participate in mandatory safety training and orientations.
