About The Position

The Equipment Operator drives, maneuvers, or controls light to heavy equipment used to construct and maintain roads, bridges, and right-of-way. Our purpose is to make a difference in the community, to make Maricopa County a better, safer, and more enjoyable place to live.

Requirements

  • One year of experience operating trucks and equipment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement
  • State and federal regulations require Maricopa County to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety, but may not specifically require a valid CDL

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of transportation construction or roadway maintenance experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
  • Haul materials and transport vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks
  • Perform manual labor assignments as needed
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identify and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair
  • Complete required daily logs and prepare reports; attend safety meetings
  • Complete daily written reports and enter information into the Cartegraph asset management system
  • Perform traffic control activities as needed; report safety hazards and traffic problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
