About The Position

Lautenbach Recycling is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Equipment Operator with strong excavator experience for its Mount Vernon Recycling Facility. The operator supports safe material flow and smooth daily operations in a busy industrial environment, with an emphasis on preventing equipment damage and unnecessary wear. The primary machine is an excavator, with loaders and forklifts used as needed. The position is on-site, full-time, and scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

Proven excavator operating experience, with precise, controlled, and safety-oriented operation.
Understanding of machine limits, safe handling methods, and damage-prevention practices.
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability.
Dependable and self-motivated, with strong communication skills.
Team-first mindset and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
Comfort working around dust, noise, heavy traffic, and industrial equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely operate excavators as the primary machine, and loaders and forklifts as needed.
Handle materials precisely to prevent equipment damage, unnecessary wear, and facility impact.
Perform daily inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
Load, unload, sort, and stage recyclable materials throughout the yard.
Review incoming loads and ensure their accurate, safe placement.
Prepare materials for transport or processing.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
Communicate with spotters, drivers, and team members to coordinate safe movements.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and extend equipment longevity.
