Snow and Ice Maintenance Program
About The Position
The Department of Transportation Maintenance and Operations is looking for people to help with snow and ice removal for the 2026/2027 winter season. Positions available are Non-CDL Equipment Operator (operation of trucks, under 26,000 GVWR, for clearing roads, loaders for material supply, etc.) and CDL Equipment Operator. Employees must have a valid CDL and medical card with expiration date of March 31, 2027, or later when applying for the CDL Equipment Operator. This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits. Positions are located in New Castle and Kent Counties.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
- Knowledge of experience with snow and ice control.
- Must have a valid CDL and medical card with expiration date of March 31, 2027, or later when applying for the CDL Equipment Operator.
- Must possess a valid CDL Class A or B driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).
- Must meet the physical qualifications and examination requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations to hold a commercial driver's license unless they are approved for either an Intra-State CDL Waiver of a Federal Waiver or Exemption.
- Must not have incurred four or more serious traffic violations during the previous three years as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Code.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
