About The Position

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Equipment Operator Site Bulk Matl Hndlng in our Oak Creek, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by We Energies L420S Union.

Requirements

  • Employees currently classified as Yard Operator or with one year of previous experience as Yard Operator are considered qualified Equipment Operator-SBMH and are exempt from testing.
  • Will require the use of a respirator in certain situations.
  • Candidates may be required to demonstrate their ability to perform the physical functions of the position by completing a Physical Capacity Evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and assisting in the maintaining of all equipment associated with coal handling operations, barge loading/unloading operations, limestone and gypsum handling operations, ash re-burn operations and various other yard activities as needed.
  • Operating locomotive, railcar positioner and car dumper, rail switching, electrical switching, fugitive dust systems, indoor and outdoor stacker and reclaiming facilities, coal samplers, coal conveyor systems, bulldozers, front end loaders, tractors, other heavy equipment, and plant service vehicles.
  • Moving and compacting coal on the outdoor storage piles and reclaiming coal as needed.
  • Operating baghouse systems, coal transfer systems, fugitive dust control systems, fire protection systems, plant water treatment systems, and any other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Positioning barges for loading/unloading, operating limestone barge unloading systems and conveyors.
  • Performing periodic maintenance inspections, assisting Site Bulk Material Handling maintenance personnel in equipment repair, and performing routine repairs.
  • Changing of air, fuel, water and lube oil filters, packing equipment.
  • Keeping the grounds in good repair, including painting, sweeping, janitorial work, cleaning, shoveling coal spills, filling and grading yard areas, removing ice and snow, trimming shrubs, and mowing grass.
  • Assisting the Mechanic with maintenance activities.
  • Isolating equipment, performing electrical switching and participating in the administration of the Energy Controls Process.
  • Troubleshooting, correcting malfunctions, and assisting in the maintenance of equipment; including conveyor systems, pumps, valves, fans, air compressors, drive components and water systems.
  • Operating computer systems needed to control various equipment and to use company computer programs such as Impact to write notifications and work orders, access E-Mail and other document storage systems.
  • Assisting with developing and maintaining equipment operating procedures.
  • Maintaining the work area in a safe, clean, neat and orderly state.
  • Performing assigned work to the best of their ability in cases of emergency or as a supervisor deems necessary.
