As an Equipment Operator Operations, you'll perform various tasks including work in and around the turbine, pump room, boiler, environmental, and fuel handling equipment at a coal generation station. This role involves making rounds on equipment and ensuring its proper operation and maintenance. You will be responsible for keeping the turbine, boiler, and coal handling equipment neat, clean, and operating properly, as well as caring for and purifying the station oil supply and lubricating bearings and equipment. The position also involves assuring that all major and minor auxiliary equipment are operating properly, operating all ash and slag handling equipment, performing tests, taking readings, and recording data. You will start up, shut down, and care for all turbine and boiler auxiliaries, and perform maintenance work of an ordinary nature when not operating. All work must be performed according to established procedures and safety practices. Additionally, you will operate Air Quality Control Systems, including Lime/Recycle and Powdered activated carbon and Selective Catalytic Reactor systems, and conduct switching operations under the direction of a supervisor.
