About The Position

Kiewit is seeking experienced Equipment (Blade) Operators to support road construction, grading and earthmoving operations near Study Butte, Texas. This role involves operating a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment for road maintenance and repairs, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces. Responsibilities include loading gravel, dirt, and sand, smoothing and grading roads, and spreading rock and gravel. The operator will also trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes, and sewer pipes, and remove silt and debris. A key aspect of the role is maintaining equipment by checking and topping off fluid levels and performing lubrication. There may be opportunities to instruct and train other employees on the safe operation of construction equipment and tools. The position also requires inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify issues, obtaining proper documentation before moving materials, performing basic vehicle maintenance, and maintaining logs of working hours and vehicle maintenance according to regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way including loading, hauling and dumping on smooth to extremely rough surfaces.
  • Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
  • Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
  • Checking and maintaining all fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
  • Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Obtain proper and complete documentation prior to moving materials.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or fluids.
  • Maintain logs of working hours, or of vehicle maintenance, following applicable state and federal regulations.

Benefits

  • Pay rate up to $36/hr depending on experience
  • $70/day worked per diem is provided for travel exceeding 50 miles from the project site
  • $75/day will be provided for travel allowance
