This position is responsible for the operation of motorized equipment in support of the installation, maintenance, and repair of the storm water system. Drives and operates an Eductor Truck to vacuum debris from ditches, inlets, and pipes and to excavate dirt from around underground cables, pipes, gas lines, telephone lines, water lines, and power cables; operates an Eductor Truck to unstop drains and cut roots from pipes. Trains, supervises, and monitors the work of assigned personnel, including inmate laborers. Performs daily maintenance and safety inspection of assigned equipment. Assists crews with identifying cave-in ownership; assists other departments with vacuum and high pressure water services. Enforces work site safety regulations. Maintains inventory of all supplies and equipment. Operates a backhoe, tillers, dump truck, and chain saw. Supervises and participates in repair and maintenance activities; repairs cave-ins on storm sewer boxes; repairs cave-ins on storm sewer pipes; replaces pipe joints; operates a back-hoe as needed; replaces broken grates and inlets; removes trees from waterways. Maintains required records. May perform the work of Storm Water Crew Leader in his or her absence. Performs other related duties as assigned.
