Equipment Operator II (Vacancy)

About The Position

Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator II operates a variety of heavy or highly complex motorized equipment involving difficult operating problems and/or significant consequences of error, and performs related duties as required. The position is located at 910 Dublin Road and works Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The operator may act as a lead worker at assigned work sites and assist with snow and ice removal as needed.

Requirements

Two years of experience operating a commercial motor vehicle or other heavy construction equipment.
Valid Class A commercial motor vehicle operator’s license allowing operation of vehicles with air brakes.
Some positions may require a Hazardous Materials (H), Tanker (N), or tank vehicles transporting hazardous materials (X) endorsement.

Responsibilities

Operate asphalt pavers to distribute and disperse pavement.
Operate graders to grade berms, scrape and reshape alleys, and drag patch asphalt.
Operate street sweepers.
Operate semi tractor-trailer trucks and sludge-hauling trucks.
Operate mixing and screening equipment used in composting wastewater treatment residuals.
Operate front-end loaders.
Operate heavy tow trucks with mounted power wrecker booms and heavy boom/hoist trucks.
Operate commercial vehicles with trailers and drive commercial motor vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver’s License.
Operate or drive other equipment as assigned.
Perform minor preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
Check equipment before and after use for proper levels and amounts of fluids and other critical materials, including crankcase oil, water, tire air, and brake fluids.
Prepare daily vehicle reports noting the condition of operating systems and levels and amounts of important fluids or other materials.
Clean vehicles and equipment after use.
Act as a lead worker at assigned work sites.
Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
