About The Position

The Colorado Springs Public Works team is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator II to their dynamic team! Equipment Operators will perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks for the drainage operations team. Schedule is generally 6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignments after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency callout. As an Equipment Operator II for the drainage team, you will: Safely operate construction and maintenance equipment such as hand and power tools, street sweepers, dump trucks equipped with plows and sanders, front-end loaders, and tandem axle trucks Transport materials and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment Apply chemicals, abrasives, and other ice control products Maintain log and record books Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, mowing, patching potholes, and shoveling asphalt Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • Three years of full-time experience in related area of assignment
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
  • Possess or obtain upon hire a valid non-probationary Colorado Class B CDL (commercial driver's license) not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • Currently possess a valid Road Scholar 1 Certification
